I've had to have XP re-installed because I had to have a new motherboard. I have therefore had to re-install all my software. I'm having problems with our freeserve account. It won't download any messages and I keep getting an error message 'The host POP3 could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly' What am I doing wrong?

hi.
are you on Outlook or Outlook express ?
These instructions are for Outlook Express. (They'll be fairly similar for Outlook):

Go to Tools > Accounts.
Click the 'Mail' tab.
Click on the name of your e-mail account to highlight it. (NB: If there's no account listed, jump to the the link below).
Click 'Properties'
With the 'General' tab selected, check that the relevant information (i.e. your name and e-mail address) is correctly completed.
With the 'Servers' tab selected, ensure that 'Incoming mail' shows 'pop.orangehome.co.uk. (I've highlighted that bit because that's what the error message is telling you is incorrect).
'Outgoing mail' should show 'smtp.orangehome.co.uk'
'Account name' should be in the form 'yourname.orangehome.co.uk' (i.e. it should show the part of your e-mail address after the '@' sign).
'Password' should be set to your chosen password. (It will appear as asterisks).
There should be a tick alongside 'Remember password'.
The other tabs can be ignored.
Click 'Apply', then 'OK'.

If your account doesn't exist at all, set it up by following the instructions here:
