when they pull out the lottery balls how does the anouncer know immediately how many times that number has been called, they say things like, twentyth time called or pulled out three weeks ago etc, does this mean it's not live?

There is a computer linked up to an autocue.

The software enables the info to flash up very quickly for the announcer to read out.
most of the time its not live,if you look at when they give out the daily play numbers, the camera pans up to a window with 2 women sitting in a office and then a guy walks over to them with a bit of paper in his hands, this piece of footage is the same every week.
