I am looking for a script to put on my website so that if anyone prints the page out, it doesn't automatically put the name of the page at the top and the date etc in the footer.

Any ideas?

If I've read this right, what you propose is not possible:

Thanks Chris

You would have thought in 2 years (since that article was written) that it may be possible though :-(
You can control what is printed using CSS, but the headers and footers you mention are controlled by the browser, not by css.

IE feature and the user can turn it off by accessing the "Page Setup" on IE and removing the contents of the texboxes called header and footer

Cheers for the answers.

really wanted to make it as easy as possible for some of our customers to print stuff out.
the easier you want to make it for users, oftne makes it harder for developers.

as mention3ed before you should creat a print style sheet and link to copies of the pages with this style sheeet attached.

Or learn PHP/ASP etc...
