Can anyone tell me why my laptop has suddenly started freezing when I go to close it down? It gets as far as the final screen which confirms it is about to switch off but it never does. I have to remove the battery to get it to actually switch off. I haven't installed anything new or done anything differently to usual.

Hi STR, are you getting an error message coming up that reads 'not responding' ?

You may have too much bumf on there taking up memory and slowing it right down....a defrag may help....
Question Author
No message saying not responding, it doesn't go past the shutting down screen stage. I've already done a defrag, even though I still have 76% memory free.
