My laptop has 2 buttons at the front, one is for wireless, and one is the bluetooth. These buttons have stopped working, and when I press them all I get on the screen is the 'no device; message.I know how to activate the wireless through the control panel, but I have no idea where to go to activate the bluetooth.

Any help woul be most appreciated. I am using Windows XP.

Start - my computer - view system information (left hand pane)

Click hardware - device manager

Now find your bluetooth in the long list. Double click and a pane will open telling you if the device is working properly - and there will be a trouble shoot option. This is useful for finding drivers that have gone AWOL.

Hi Ethel, thanks for the answer.

This is exactly the first thing I tried, but there is no bluetooth in the list. I have never tried to use the bluetooth before so I dont even know if it was previously working.
I recently restored the laptop to its factory settings, but I followed the manuals instructions to the letter, and everything else works fine.

I am baffled!
Are you sure it has bluetooth and ever had it?

My Acer has the bluetooth switch at the front, but it was an 'optional extra' and my model never came with it.

Hi Ethel,

Mine is an Acer to (Aspire 3614wlmi). I think you are probably correct, and bluetooth was an optional extra.

Thanks for your help.
