I only just noticed last night that the bar that runs along under an internet page the 1 where you click on an internet link and a blue bar appears when it is downloading the page for you is gone. Is there anyway i can get it back ?

Not sure if I fully understand, but I think you mean the status bar. In Internet Explorer goto View then click status bar.
