When I dialled 1471, the number given was 01111...what sort of number is that? Does anyone know?

International Direct Distance Dialing?
Did it give any more numbers, they'd hold the location info by the sounds of it.

Thanks BigD.
I like where you're coming from, but it doesn't explain why there were only five numbers, does it?
Also, it's one number too long for an International prefix.
Chances are that it was someone autodialling to sell something.
Question Author
Yes, whom and where from?
If the number is international and witheld from some countries you'll get 01111 (or something) because of the way the distant equipment signals are filtered.

if it's important and they want you .... they'll ring back ...
if it was a million pounds ... you've missed the offer ....;-(

Ouch! Food for thought, there!!
I had a silent call today that went on for ages - I didnt hang up as its their phone bill at the end of the day!
When I did 1471 after they had eventually gone, it was the number 01111.............

Im not calling the number back as I have a feeling it was cost me pounds per minutes!

Yeah, I don't doubt that you're right. That's why I chose this option!
