what is going to happen to our tv sets??!

i was recently told that tv sets will no longer be able to be used when digital comes into play next year? we have 2 portable tvs, bought in 2002 i think and our big one in the lounge bought last year, this one i think should be ok. i cannot believe surely that these sets will become obsolete, can they not be adapted or surely someone out there is creating a box to connect up to them so they work. any ideas?

You need to be able to receive the digital tv signal so at the very least will just need to get a freeview box. Your tv's won't become obsolete!
Also depends where you live as to when the analog signal gets turned off. See the link below for info on the switch over:

as CC says, a digital box should be enough allow you to watch the TVs.

Beware of Salesmen saying that all TV will have to be digital TVs when it only costs �20 for a digital box
Just to throw a spanner into the works, under development is a digital to analogue converter. Similar to a modem I s'pose.
