I live in Europe and when I try to, say, sign up to on-line banking to my UK bank, my application is refused as the bank knows I'm not using a pc in the UK. Similarly, I can't watch some BBC streamed progs for the same reason. It is sooooo annoying!

Is there anyway my country's identity can be hidden?

You could use Tor, but it's kinda slow so wouldn't really help. And you may likely not even be seen as coming from the UK anyway.

The BBC streamed TV is for TV license payers only, in the UK.
There are proxys out there that allow you to have a UK (or other) IP address, although I wouldn't necessarily trust them for banking purposes.
Who do you bank with? I never hada ny problems accessing my Barclays account when I was living in Spain

Thanks for the Tor suggestion; I'll look into it.

The mechanism for accessing one's bank account from a pc based outside of the UK isn't the problem; it appears to be the creation of the on-line service; notably with Nationwide. I've already managed to set up a service with RBS, can't get Nationwide to play at all! It isn't saying specifically, 'you're outside UK', but there are references to the system being available to UK residents only.
Setting up often (it did with me...) requires you to wait for them to send you a password via post, which may well not be something the bank offers internationally.

Sadly, I can't even get that far in the process. I know the problem is because my IP address is indicates I'm not in UK. I just need to know how to find/use a way of hiding my location!
I suggest you contact them and see if they even offer the service to people abroad in the first place.
