Is there a way of deleting them from within the browser? I know where they're kept and how to delete them manually, but if it's possible to clear them from one of the menus at the end of a session, as it is with cached pages, that would save a lot of hassle.

Go to Edit - Preferences - Privacy and Security - Cookies - Manage Stored Cookies - Remove all Cookies. This is how to do it in Netscape 7.1.
