Can anyone tell me why when I go on some websites the lettering appears to be 'jumbled up' and all the colouring is wrong, even when I click on reload I still have the same problem?

Hey SAH
What website are you looking at?
Question Author
Virgin Radio, but I don't think it's a problem with the site though.
Have you tried service packing Internet Explorer? Update it from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?Fa

Note: this can be quite a big download (upto 12 MB).

Thanks j2buttonsw, but what exactly is service packing and how likely is it that it'd solve this problem??
Well assuming you haven't got a virus (tell me you're running a current antivirus software package) then it appears as though IE is not decoding html properly. It is hard to uninstall then reinstall IE so the best thing is to service pack it. Microsoft are constantly upgrading their products and releasing these upgrades as service packs. The latest IE is version 6.0.28 SP1 (available from the above link). Service packing will overinstall the latest IE and usually fixes most html decoding problems. There are other IE issues such as java which was stripped out of Windows XP with XP service pack 1 which you can get from www.sun.com

Don't worry I have got an anti-virus software package, but how can I tell what version of IE I've got?
Question Author
Something else I forgot to mention too, is that as well as the writing and colours being jumbled up, there are also red crosses where there should be pictures!
In IE Help > About Internet Explorer should give you the version.
Question Author
I've right mouse clicked on Internet Explorer, then on properties but I can't find the help button. HELP!
Forget right-clicking; open IE normally and on the top menu bit is Help (you know: File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, Help) and within this is About Internet Explorer.
