I am looking for a budget laptop and have seen one with an AMD Sempron 3500+ processor. Despite good reviews, if i find that this is not adequate would it be possible to change the processor?

Thanks,

No. Pretty much impossible. Some you can with a fair bit of work, but some are actually soldered in.

What do you want to do with it?

The sempron is a more budget processor, but for general use should be more than adequate, especially that speed of processor.

fo3nix,

The laptop will basically be used for wireless broadband, e-mails, word processingand maybe spreadsheets Probably hold a few pictures, a few music files (not many at all) but defintely not gaming. I guess that qualifies it for general use?
Definitely yes. The only reason you'll need a higher-end processor is if you're either gaming or doing something like video or audio editing. It's still better to get an Athlon or Core Duo or something if you can find that processor at a similar price, but otherwise the Sempron should be fine.
