Every time I send a friend a .jpeg attachment, all he gets is a winmail.dat file at his end. I can send them to myself OK, so I'm assuming the problem is at his end. Any ideas, people?

Hey LeMarchand
I don't know the answer to this after searching but if you don't get an answer on here, try posting this question on www.computing.net - I swear by it :o)
If your friend is using AOL this is a known problem and there is no way around it as far as I know.

Cheers guys - will give the other site a go if no-one on here can solve it. I've just checked the addresses my friend uses, and neither of them are AOL ones.
If you do a Google search on winmail.dat, you'll find quite a lot of info on these files that may be helpful. But as far as I can see they are a troublesome form of text file, rather than images. Incidentally, it doesn't help you, but what alexwo says about AOL is simply not the case. By coincidence, just after reading your question, I received into my AOL mail box a photo from my sister in jpeg form.

Took geofbob's advice (dunno why I didn't think of it for myself!) and found the page mac309 posted - still waiting to hear back from my mate though!
