I have purchased a second hand 250GB HDD Recorder, but I find that the fan is quite noisy. I have looked on the manufacturers website and it states that the fan can be noisy especially in a living room environment (where else did they think 99% of the machines would be situated other than the living room). Does anyone have any recommendations on how to reduce the fan noise. The only one I can think of would be to place the machine in an enclosed glass cabinet, but this could be expensive.Perhaps other Abers have had a similar problem and have come up with some ingenious way of sorting the noise out.

I use one of these on a PVR (Humax) butsome people are worried about warranties after modification.

often this is a sign the fan bearings are going bad. Since the fan is critical to prevent overheating, i would replace it with a new one a.S.A.P. I have worked on many dvd recorders failed due to overheating. They are unreliable technology at the best of times!
