i need to replace the rechargeable batteries in my phones at home. What do the numbers on the side mean? mine have 700 but in the shops you can buy anything from 850 to 2500, what happens if you use a higher number? or do you ahve to stick to the same one?

They presumably refer to the capacity in milliamp hours. The higher the value, the longer the charge will last.
As puzzlesRus says, so just go for the biggest number you can get!
Try the rechargeable 7 dayshop batteries they are a little fatter than normal batterys but i'v got some in my cordless phone and they go 2-3 weeks on a full charge + they are memory free...............
