My computer has suddenly slowed. Task Manager shows the CPU working 100% with nothing open. MSK svr.exe seems to be using it all. Can you educate me?

It is your McAfee spam killer that is causing this problem.

It is a known fault.

Many thanks Ethel. I also just found out the reason from a search. I have disabled this process and the CPU has come back down to earth. I will watch for any further problems. Tks agn.
I hope I'm not obsessive, but I do have a look at the task manager from time to time and make sure I'm not running resource hoggers or bloated programmes.

Glad you're sorted.

I am English and was taught 'programme'.

I know 'program' is commonly used for computing, but it does not look right to me. It is a vulgar Americanism I can live without.
This time I certainly agree with Ethel programme is correct for us English folk although I am not sure if today English is correct either by some standards
You could always save it to disk
