Garmin Nuvi 310D sat nav

Got one of these about a month ago from Halfords, it was supposed to come with free Live Traffic Updates (subscription normally �149, apparently). If stuch a little aerial to the winscreen with a sucker proved, yet have never had any live traffic updates, despite being in a few jams and road works. When I request traffic updates, it says 'not available'. Not sure whether it's working and how I would know, or whether I was supposed to register it or something???

as far as i am aware it will only start working when it picks up its 1st signal from a transmitter by the road ... so until you come across one (normally main a roads / motorways)it cant start up ...

Thank-you Pingu, I've just driven down to Cornwall, so I must have passed a transmitter, luckily drive down was jam free, so will see if it's working when I head back up to London. Happy New Year.
