The official freeview site seems to think you need an outdoor rooftop aerial, but I guess it depends how far you are way from the transmitter

See here

A few years ago I had an aerial splitter and amplifier fitted.

I had ONE rooftop aerial, but they fitted a device that amplified the signal that made the signal strong, and then split it into 4 cables that they ran to four rooms

All the cables went outside the house from the rooftop aerial.

I put one aerial socket in my living room, one in the front dining room, one in our main bedroom and one in our daughters bedroom.

So now we have 4 aerial sockets from the one aerial.

Contact a local TV aerial fitter to see if they can do the same for you.
vehelpfulguys choice is probably the best plus the splitter/amp will boost the signal. One of the best ones are the SLX range but the only downside is if you dont like heights you`ll have to get somebody to fit it for you as the booster is located near the aerial and requires the aerial lead to be wired into this first
i have 3 boxes. one runs off main aeriel, the other 2 off a normal indoor aeriel. Works perfectly.
Depends where you live where I am we can't get freeview at all, can you pick up all of the stations on your main aerial if so a splitter box is the best way
