i recently bought one of these phones and i think it is fantastic. theres just one thing i want to know... there is a small clear rectangle on the very top of my phone that looks somewhat like a light, but for the life of me i do not know how to turn it on or if it even is infact a light.. little help please xxxx

no idea on that phone. Don't even know if it is a light.
My old nokia used to have a torch that you turned on/off by holding down the * key for 2 seconds though

Near the speaker bit where you put your ear? If so, it's most likely the light sensor: in dark rooms, the screen won't be made as bright as in daylight, so it won't blind you at night. That's certainly what's on mine in that position (W810i).
