Dark screen

I sometimes like to leave my computer downloading overnight in my bedroom but dont like the light coming through the screen, what can i do to leave it running but still get some shut eye?

At the risk of stating the obvious: switch the screen off!

Turn the screen off ? (but leave the computer on)

Or get a "black" screensaver ?

ps You'll find this works for a number of other things that disturb your sleep as well; e.g: television, radio, washing machine, etc. :-)

If your computer is a laptop then you are probably having difficulty simply 'turning the screen off', as suggested. If that is the case, right-click on any bit of free space on the desktop and select properties. Select the Screensaver tab, and hopefully you'll see a 'Power...' button. Click it and you'll see it will alllow you to configure switching off the screen after a certain time.

Most laptops have a screen switch key that makes the screen black.

Mine is FN with F6.
