Microsoft Hotfix

My prog. tells me that I have a missing Microsoft Security Update (KB922770). I managed to find & download it into my system but I can't install it. I get weird messages that I don't understand!! Any suggestions or help,please!
I'm using XP home edition SP2

This is a hotfix for .Net Framework and seems to be causing all sorts of problems.
If you Google it, you will find the same question asked on various forums.
Obviously you do not need to install it if you have not installed .Net Framework

Thanks for that,dodgyshirt, it's eased my concern somewhat, but: how do I know if I have Net Framework installed and if I don't need it, how do I get rid of it?
