Is it possible to assign a key to my keyboard, that will mute the windows volume, without having to click the speaker icon on the taskbar? thanks

if you can make a suitable bat file, or find the vol value in reg save it in My documents; drag a s'cut to it onto desktop, open the s'cut, go in properties and assign it a hotkey, then you're away:

thanks xyzzy. Do you know where I might find info on how do do this on the web?
You can buy "multimedia" keyboards that have extra buttons for controlling media player or starting IE or OE etc
