sony ericcson headphones

i just got the sony erricson walkman phone, does anyone else have this one and find the headphones strange?
one long side and one short?

These sound like a fairly normal setup for in ear headphones. The longer piece of wire is designed to go around the back of your neck.

I have a Sony MP3 player and the phones are the same. I think they are designed this way just to be bloddy annoying.
