Viewing a video clip on a PC that was taken with a mobile phone

My friend e-mailed me a video he took with his mobile phone. It has the file extension .3gp When I try to open the file, I get a pop-up asking me which programme I want to open it with. How do I view it? I'm lost! HELP please!

There's one program called something like "VLC player" which plays every file format known to man.
Two popular programs that I know of can read this file type:

quicktime
vlc player (as stevie says)

if you already have quicktime, then just use that. otherwise, here's vlc player:
