Hi

I have just won an item on ebay, but the seller has asked me to pay with a different paypal account email address than the one listed on their ebay account.

does anyone know if this is at all dodgy? - its still paypal, but will i still be covered by ebay rules etc as its not the one they have connected to their account?

why would someone do this?

its about 60 so i am obviously a bit more wary

many thanks

There is not necessarily anything sinister about having different e-mail addresses for eBay and PayPal.

I signed up to eBay using an e-mail address which does not indicate my true identity (but rather my username) as a measure of anonymity whilst bidding for items, sending or receiving queries, etc., however I used an e-mail address reflective of my true name for my PayPal account, as is my practice for financial accounts, since I believe in transparency when conducting transactions.

The rules of eBay and PayPal are not dependent on having matching e-mail addresses for both.
I`ve dont this a few times and not had a problem, paypal is the safest method of payment on eBay, I wouldnt be too suspicious.
