Im having a few problems with my dvd recorder and was wondering if anyone could help? Every time I record TV directly onto DVD, there is a jagged edge at the top of the screen of every recording. The problem is, this only shows up on playback of the recording, not on my TV when watching it whilst recording

I have a mate who has a different dvd recorder and he has the same problem too.....is this a common thing with dvd recorders or does anyone know a way to sort this out (without cropping the video)??

Thanks in advance :)

can't help with the problem but I don't get this on mine.
Check your DVD Recorder settings for 4:3 or 16:9.

If the prog you are recording is broadcast in 4:3, record it in a 4:3, likewise for 16:9.

Often your TV will try and re-size the recording playback for best viewing, have seen similar edge effects when format is not appropriately set.
