mobile phone tapping/bugging

Does anyone know anything about tapping into mobile phone conversations? The reason I ask is that I gave my number to someone who I feel might have the know-how and the inclination to listen into my calls. I use my phone for business a lot of the time and I'm a bit concerned as this person is a competitor of mine. I'd rather not have to change my number as I've had it for a very long time and hundreds of people that I deal with would have to update their contact info. How can I find out if he's tapping in?

Unless he has contacts within your phone operator somehow, a technician or somebody, then no he can't tap in.
Can't be done unless he's working for MI5 or similar. Mobile telecommunications are digital and encrypted as a matter of course.

In the old days of big blocky analogue phones, listening in was easy, but not anymore. The worst he can do with your number is call you up!

Thanks you two.
Youve given me some peace of mind, and for that I am thankful.
Think I may have been watching too many spy films.
Seriously though, this guy is a sneaky so and so and is well worth a watching. Hes into all sorts and he knows a couple of techno-nerd, hacker types whom he has been known to employ to mess with peoples private affairs.
Ps. Like the patter Ralph :o)
