I use Pinnacle Studio, which is VERY comprehensive, and allows various fx (video and audio), transition,. etc capture, straight to DVD, blah, blah, blah...

Many people go for Adobe Premiere Elements 2 (the 'darling' of the magazine reviewers) but also consider Serif MoviePlus 5 and even Sony Vegas Studio. NB. , unlike Premiere Elements 1, you need a certain kind of processor (latest kind) to run Premiere Elements 2.

Pinnacle Studio 10 (with the latest update) seems to be more stable now but I'm not sure if I'd risk it. Their dearer package (Liquid Edition) is supposed to be better.
