We are going on hol next week -b/f's ex had announced today through solicitor that her daughter who we are taking, that her passport is "lost" and Passport Office cant replace it in time!!!!!!
What's up?
Whats happened, what've i missed?
Hmmm, sounds fishy! surely if you went to your nearest pp office they could issue one the same day?
hmmm... thats a tricky one.
My friend lost her passport before going travelling, it was stolen in London with her handbag. She went to the headquaters next day and it got sorted. I think she had to go very early but as far as I know if you go down in person I think it can be resolved. I'm sure someone here will know.

Hope that helps babes, good luck xx
Question Author
no,it cant be done at this short notice
Are you certain you cannot get an appointment for a 'fast track', or possibly 'same day' issue?

I know it won't be the same, and you'll lose money on the holiday abroad, but could you take the daughter away somewhere in the UK? It'll be hot anyway and if the daughter comes back having had a wonderful time with you, the ex will see that she failed in trying to ruin your plans. (I'm making the assumption that the ex is doing it to cause trouble, sorry if she's not.)

We cant do that as we also have my son going with us,and his parents also joining us in France and they have all paid for their tickets as well.It is a disaster!
Question Author
Nemesis - I have spoken to everybody possible at the Passport Office - they have altered rules and the inly passports they process the same day if you go to the office is renewals, not lost ones. And even if I fast track this one I have to go into the office first, then they send it off etc and it wont arrive back till the 21st and we go on the 11th.
I'm sorry to hear that Pink, what are you going to do?
Hard decision I guess, but surely you'll have to leave her behind with all the others to consider?
Where are you going????....if it is within Europe and the child is british /european then technically the child does not need a passport to travel in europe. I dont want to raise your hopes...but there could be a way and it may be a fight.

if you can prove that the child is who has been booked for the flight (birth certificate) then the airline could be persuaded to carry the child. long battle but it has happened. The airline only need authorisation from the immigration authorities at the other European country that they will allow the child to enter. It is possible if it is expalined that child will be travelling with family. Long hard slog but it may happen.
Matt's idea is good. But has she got the same surname as her father? If not it would be almost impossible.
Question Author
Hi guys - the child does have the same surname as her father,We are not flying but taking the ferry from Dover across to Boulogne and then driving down thru France to the South. We all id thes last year ad Passport control at the ferry terminals was so strict we couldnt believe it.
If it is ferry then do this

Ask your ferry company if birth certificate will be OK. Hassle them to say yes. All they have to do is phone up the french immigration at the other port for permission to carry the child. believe me this happens all the time. In most cases the french will agree. ask to speak to them yourself. find the telephone number and speak in french.

dont worry about the way back. every british child is entitled to entry to the Uk. there is no ifs and buts about that.
Question Author
Matt, that is great - but I don't speak French very well!! And should we be doing this now,or nearer Friday??
start now...it may be a long slog but hey atleast you have tried.
