Why won't the XP I've just installed recognise my standard USB keyboard?

Try restarting PC with keyboard plugged into different USB port

Its not the USB port, all 11 are the same. BIOS recognises the keyboard, Windows setup recognises it, Windows XP doesn't.
maybe keyboard just not xp compatible? sounds a bit strange though. have you check it out in devices? do you need to install software for that keyboard?
