System sounds not working.

Please someone help me before premature hair greying sets in lol. The other evening while listening to Windows media player I moved my speaker forward & all sounds stopped & haven't worked since, I have replaced the speakers (which do work)I have gone through windows xp sound troubleshooting with no success I have even downloaded & ran a programme called BurnInTest which found no errors either. I am now totally baffled as to what the problem can be so any help/advice/suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Can you system restore back to when the speakers worked?

Possibly if your able to tell me how to do that lol I know I've done it before but its been a while now :(

I have tried to restore but its says its unable to because there have been no changes to my computer :-/

System Restore : start >all programs>accesories>system tools > system restore> select radio button 'restore my computer to an earlier time' >next> then select a date in bold numbers on the calender , just before your problem began & follow on from there. Hope this helps

I imagine you have checked that you havnt got your speakers muted or volume turned right down on pc, these are settings on pc not on the speakers.

Ok I'll admit it...I'm an idiot !!

I knew the speakers had to be plugged into the 'green' socket I just hadn't noticed till now that there is more than one green socket *blush*
