I have made Firefox my default browser and told my old browser that it is no longer default. I have set permissions in program and access defaults and everything else i can think of, but when I click on a link in an email, AB for example, it still always opens in Avant..any ideas please?

You haven't said which email client you're using but it's notoriously difficult to persuade Outlook Express to open the correct browser, particularly if Zone Alarm is running.

The only solution may be to change your e-mail client to Mozilla's Thunderbird.

Emal client is Outlook from Office 2003 but I'm afraid changing to Thinderbird isn't really an option as the Office package works too closely with Outlook to leave it out of the equation
You'll find the same happens with links from msn messenger too, e.g., checking your hotmail email. Microsoft at their best!
