PC control pads on FIFA 2002

i'm using a control pad called Saitec P750 on FIFA 2002 for the PC. having some problems though. whenever i receive the ball, the player plays a 1-2 (normally space bar on then keyboard) with me trying to doing it. is there anyway of getting around this? p.s. ther edoesnt appear to be any auto-fire button on and i have downloaded the new XP drivers for it. desperate for this to work so that we can have some network gaming action asap ;)
