No, I wanted to have the desktop icon as a quick launch, sorry but this didn't help me.
Presuming you have your quick launch on show;

The icons that appear on your Quick launch bar can be found in

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Profile Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

The one you are after is called Show Desktop. If you have deleted it from your profile then a copy can be found in

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Just copy it into your quick launch folder.
There's a keyboard shortcut to show the desktop too - it's Windows key (the one between ctrl and alt on the left of your keyboard), D. A lot quicker than clicking a quick launch icon I find !
