Is it possible to convert bitmap pics to jpgs please and if so what is the best software to use ? Many thanks!

Just open the file in Paint, then save as jpg.

Paint Shop Pro and Irfanview can do lots of converting as a batch so that you punch in the instructions and then leave it to convert hundreds of photos.
