Can anyone advise me how best to go about receiving German TV channels here in the UK? Is it better to go for satellite or cable TV and which providers offer the best choice?

If you get a sattelite you can get a large range of German stations for free. Buy a copy of 'better satellite' magazine. This is published quarterly and gives details of what bits you need. I can get TM3, Kabel1, RTL and RTLII Bayern BR, ZDF, VOX, 3SAT, Arte, SAT1 using an Amstrad SRD400 analogue set top box, which you could probably now get free from someone switching to digital.
