a couple of weeks ago I was clearing up my computer and must have deleted something pretty important because now no sound works... It tells me there is no audio device now and I've basically deleted something to do with the sound card.

I remember deleting a program that's icon was a blue crab or something, and have put what I thought was the same program, which I have found out is called soundman, onto a flash stick and onto my computer to see if it solves the problem but still nothing's working... can anyone help??? xxx

The blue crab was your sound driver. It is probably worth popping open your PC and trying to spot your sound card's make/model and then Google for the relevant drivers for your system.
right click my comp, select properties, hadrware, device manager, find the listing for your device under sound and audio, right click it and select update driver.
I think the blue crab is a part of the realtek ac97 drivers. If you're using windows go here then download and install the drivers http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97-2.a spx?lineid=5&famid=12&series=8&Software=True
