My old digital camera died on me last week so I bought a new one. It is the same size type etc just a different model. I took some photos on it and some snippets of video but I can't seem to get the video onto my computer just the photos. I just uploaded the video the same way as the photos on my old one but just can't seem to work this one. I've read the instructions and loaded up the software the came with the camera but I'm having no luck. I can view the video actually on the camera so I know I took it ok. Any ideas(but don't get too techie!)?

try playing the video with videolan.
No it doesn't appear as a drive. Should it?
Yes - assuming you are connecting the camera via a USB cable. Normal procedure is to connect the camera to the PC via USB, then turn the camera on. You may also need to press "PC", "OK" or some similar button on your camera's menu. The PC should then pick up the camera as a camera or a removable drive. You'll normally then get a "What should Windows do?" type box, asking you which out of a set of options you would like. There are a number of ways to get the photos off your camera but, to keep things simple, I'd just cancel the window and open up "My Computer".
You should see Local Disk C, and possibly a bunch of other disks. The camera will either be one of the "Removal Disks" (most likely the one with the highest letter) or show up as a camera. Right-click and explore the disk/camera, and go through the various folders until you find your pictures and footage. (Most likely in a folder called DCIM or similar - from memory!). Then just copy/move the files as normal.
