Windows think you are using a non UK keyboard (differrent countries have keys in different places)

Go into Windows and check the keyboard and other settings are all UK.

This is in the control panel, Regional and Language Options

Im guessing yours is proberbly a dell computer (I may be wrong) but its because you language is set to 'English-US' instead of 'English-UK'.

Do as vehelpfulguy said to change it.

I had this prob a while back, after upgrading to XP from ME. I had set it all to English UK during setup, but there was another option hidden somewhere that had English US selected.

There are 2 or 3 settings that need to be UK, not just 1

Thank you but have already done this and everything seems to be UK except the keyboard, this is a new keyboard as the previous one was doing the same thing, and this too is now wrong
