I have an ipod but when trying to install itunes i get to the very end of installation then a windows error report appears. The itunes shortcut is on my desktop but when i double click the error report comes up again. Also for some reason, when looking in my computer, the dvd drive icon dissapears! i have done a sytem restart and my dvd drive is back but whenever i try to install itunes, the same thing happens!

Has anyone else had this problem? if so what did you do to fix it?

Can i use any other programs other than itunes?

if not is my ipod useless? i cant even use it as a door stop cos its too small !!! :)

sorry for all the questions, just a bit lost !

what version of windows are you on? right-click the 'my computer' icon on the desktop, and click properties. XP service pack 2?

also, what does the error say? just that the installation cannot complete, or something like that?
sorry, what i mean is, no special error code?

its service pack 2, not sure what error it is, it just asks me if i want to send a report to windows!

Ive read somewhere on this site about installing quicktime on its own first so going to try that, is it a problem that ive got things like real player installed etc ?

no that shouldn't affect things.

try disabling your antivirus and everything else while you install it, and see if that helps.
