Am I right in thinking there's three costs associated with broadband: connection fee, equipment purchase and monthly subscription? OK, is there a website which is like a price comparison site that conveniently lists all the broadband ISPs and what they're currently charging for each component? also is there a site that compares prices for Freeview boxes? is any retailer offering much below the standard �99?

There can be three costs involved, but usually there is only 2, the monthly fee (usually covers most equipment) and the setup fee. As for a web site try this one:

I've got NTL Broadband and had so many problems with it at start up when connected via USB that my daaughter kindly bought and installed a network card for me - an extra cost I wasn't expecting. The web link above looks excellent, wish I'd known about it before.
