When I download my picture from my Casio digital camera intothe the Computor the pictures are shuffled and they come mixed up but numbered chronologically as they download; when viewed as a slide show they make no sense.

Help please.

there will be a title of "name" for the name column, giving the file names. click that, and it'll order by name, not date.
This may or may not work but as a quick solution, try just clicking F5 and see if that rearranges them without all of this below...

fo3nix's answer is probably correct but I don't fully understand your question.
Is it that you have pictures numbered, say, 1-10 but when you get them onto your PC they're listed in a different order?
That seems to be the question he/she is answering.

If it's at all important that you can see the pictures AND the filenames then you could try the above suggestion except :
view > thumbnails.
Then right click on a white space among the photos and "Arrange Icons By > Name" or date or whatever suits.

stevie 21, my problem in fullis: The photos are all in order when viewe3d on the digital camera(although I have edited them as I went along). When I download them on to the computor the order is shuffled and they come mixed up but numbered chronologically as they download.

If I sort them out on the computor into the order I want them, I cannot seem to save them in that order permanently, although the order seems to survive the the computor being turned off. If I then try to download them into a CD the order reverts to the one they originally downloaded from the camera into the computor.

How can one save them in the resorted order so that I can save them on a disk?

Explorer (the thing that you view the pics with on your PC) is set to order the pics in some way. Right click on a white space around the files and change the order. You can order them by name, date, etc. etc. If you follow the example in the first post and view details, you get even more options.

Are you trying to arrange them by filename?
