I bought the above DVD recorder/freeview tuner a couple of months. it works and plays fine. But recently when I put the dvd recorder timer on, on a few occasions I have got home to see it has not recorded and has a message saying error with disc.

I have reset it and and has worked ok. On some occassions it works fine. It reads the disc and I can even press record and it will record ok, its only when I set the timer that on some, not all, occasions it does not record. I use Sony DVD-RW discs. When I put a new/fresh disc in it always says "disc to be formatted". It formats it and its cool. I have only ever used the one disc which I got when I bought it. I have thrown that away and have formatted a fresh disc, keeping my fingers crossed for the next time I set the timer. Do you think this could be down to a dodgy disc?

Have you tried using panasonic RAM type discs, these are far more versatile than the RW type ( you can use time slip, just like sky plus) and dont need to be formatted. other than that just make sure that, when doing timer recordings, the correct channel is displayed in the LHS of the timer setting.
