Is it necessary for me to move my aerial from inside the attic to the outside for me to get Freeview reception? I would ask the neighbours but my house is isolated and the nearest is quarter of a mile away.

I think it all depends on where you live and if there are strong signals in your area. I have a freeview box in the living room and in the bedroom and both boxes are connected to a standard indoor arial which sits on top of the telly and I get an excellent quality

There are many things which could influence the reception on your freeview.I have tried a few till i got perfect results.

  1. move arial outside

  2. run new coax cable(the other one was old)

  3. if cable is split ie 1upstairs,1 down stairs buy better quality splitter.not expensive

  4. buy weak signal arial and mount it the correct way.(i didn't)

this is not too expensive more a pain in the ass. Before you do all this you can also find out if your area is ok for digital reception as not all of the country is yet.

i bought a cheap indoor digital ariel from wilco's (4.99) works great!
