double click on a folder - gives me "search"

When I double click on some folders within "my documents", suh as "my music" instead of "exploring" them, I get the "search" folder, with the bloody dog thing. It's only some folders, not all of them. Have I accidently adjusted or changed a setting somewhere - its very annoying. Can anyone help me change it back?
prev on itunes if you convert selection to aac to fit a whole album to a disc
