Peugeot 406 Multi Function Display (trip computer)

Hi there. I have a 1998 Peugeot 406 saloon and I have noticed that although there I have no trip computer or multi function display there is a block of wires already in the place. Does anybody know if I buy a computer display whether it would work and how the button on the stalk would be installed? Thanks
