how do you mean 'scam'? the company? the emailer? what did they say to make you think it a scam?

sorry joko i should have made it more clearer - the emailer said he would send me a cheque for 2,800 i was to put this into my account deduct the money owed plus an extra 50 and then send the rest to a shipping company

This is a well known scam.

You deposit the 2,800, send them the rest, then they withdraw the 2,800 and you are left broke.

May be worth letting the people who run the campsite website that it is happening on their site so they can place a warning.

how do they withdraw the money from your account? If you deposit the cheque they cant take money from bank account can they?????
Lukey121, They withdraw the money from their account (if it was ever there in the first place) so the cheque bounces. You've already sent the extra cash on to the "shipping company" along with the goods. At best, you've lost just the goods, at worst, you've lost the money too.

yes i've heard of this one too - though i have to say not about a tent! was it silk lined? gold plated? four stories? en suite?

2,800 for a tent!

or was the deal something else?
