photoshop (or somthing)

Does anyone know a really good, free photoshop type thing that I can download? I want to be able to change photos on the computer. Make them black and white, add different effects etc
Also can I do that thing where you cut out a person in the picture? You know, remove the background?

There isn't a free program that comes with the features of Photoshop but I use two programs that have everything I need and much more.

Have a look at Picasa2 and Faststone mycats and I think you will want both of them.

The gimp does a lot of what you want (maybe everything and more). Not as powerful as Photoshop, but it's free software.

There is a version called "gimpshop" that basically makes it behave more like Photoshop (normal gimp is a bit different).

IrfanView is freeware and can utilise many Photoshop plugins.
