Insert CD-R into drive.

Launch NE6.

Place cursor over 'Audio' and select 'MP3 Disk'.

A new (empty) window is now open. Click 'Add'.

Another window now opens. In this window, navigate to the folder which contains your MP3 files. Click on the first required file to highlight it. If you want to select a continous list of files (starting with the one you've just highlighted), simply hold down 'Shift' and click on the last file. (This will highlight the whole list). If you want to select various individual files, hold down 'Ctrl' while clicking on other files which you want. (This will result in all of the required files being highlighted).

Click 'Add'. If you also need to select files from other folders, navigate to the relevant folders and repeat the previous procedures for each one.

When you've added all of the files which you require, click 'Finished'. The second window will now close.

In the original window, click 'Next'.

If you want to, put check marks alongside 'Allow files to be added later' and/or 'Verify data'.

Click 'Burn'.

Wait until you see a message confirming that the files have been successfully burnt. (If you selected 'Verify data' there will be an additional stage, which might involve your CD drive opening and closing again, before you get a message telling you that data verification was successful).

Click 'Next'.

Click 'Exit'

Pour yourself a drink in celebration of having mastered a new skill.

Hi,Buenchico.Just saw your reply to fosca,I can do all of what you said but then it tells me to insert a disc when there is already one in the drive and then the drive opens and the disc pops out what is going on?it,s driving me mad.jozzer
Hi Jozzer:

There are various reasons why your PC might fails to recognise that there's a CD-R in the drive:

1. Nero Express doesn't recognise that particular make of drive. (This is unlikely. Roxio software is notorious for compatibility problems but Nero uses a generic driver which has very few problems).

2. There's a fault with the drive. (I seem to be very unlucky with CD-RW drives. They don't last more than a few months before a problem develops).

3. The disc is incompatible with the drive. (This is by far the most likely problem. Some drives will only work with certain brands of disc. Check that the speed of the disc is neither rated too slow or too fast for the drive and/or try a different brand of disc).

I'm sorry that I can't be of more help. Sometimes, however, putting a disc in the drive then re-booting the PC seems to work - it might be worth a try.
