what is the difference between a 28KBPS,56KBPS,64KBPS etc. type internet connections.what is the difference between these in data processing ?

KBPS stands for KiloBits Per Second so obviously the higher the better as far as this is concerned. 56k is the speed of a standard dial up modem with all cable, isdn and broadband being faster.
